December 10, 2024

From building VR cameras that captured the Rio Olympics to engineering 3D models for Amazon and Meta, Namrata brings innovation and expertise to Standard AI.

Whether analyzing shopper behavior or dreaming of hand-making pasta, her passion for solving real-world problems shines through!

1. What is your role?

I am an engineer on the Spatial Perception team. My work involves leveraging computer vision to map store layouts and analyze shopper behavior patterns.

2. What are some highlights from your professional background?

I started my career at a startup where we built a VR 360-degree camera that even made it to the Rio Olympics. After that, I joined Amazon, working on creating 3D models from product photos, and later moved to Meta, where I contributed to the Quest VR devices.

3. Why was Standard AI a match for you?

Standard AI’s innovative use of computer vision to revolutionize retail caught my attention. I’m passionate about harnessing cutting-edge technology to solve real-world problems, and this is exactly what the company is doing—pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in retail.

4. What are some of the hats you wear (known or unknown)?

Computer vision engineer, team lead, and constant learner—always ready to pick up and put on whatever hat the job throws at me.

5. What excites you about working with AI and retail/CPG?

With AI already transforming the online retail space, I’m excited by the untapped potential it holds for optimizing processes and enhancing customer experiences in physical retail environments.

6. What’s your favorite snack to grab at the grocery store?

Chewy Chips Ahoy and Jalapeno potato chips—because why choose between sweet and spicy when you can have both?

7. Where do you see the future of Standard AI?

I see Standard AI expanding its influence, becoming a leader in AI-driven retail solutions that reshape how businesses operate. I believe the company will play a key role in transforming the entire retail landscape.

8. If you could choose anyone as your mentor, who would you pick and why?

I’d choose Sheryl Sandberg for her leadership in tech and her commitment to women’s empowerment. Her insights on leadership, resilience, and creating inclusive workplaces would be invaluable.

9. What’s the weirdest job or most unique job you’ve ever had?

At my first job, I was given the task of attaching wires and lenses to cameras we were building because I had the smallest hands that could fit into the tiny cases!

10. If you could learn anything new, what would it be?

I’ve always wanted to learn how to make fresh pasta by hand—fettuccine, ravioli, and more!

11. If you have 30-minutes (or longer) of free time, how do you pass the time?

Curl up with a good book and a cozy blanket.
