January 28, 2025

From launching Uber’s first micro-mobility service to delivering 1 million meals at Lyft, our Director of Product is no stranger to innovation.

At Standard AI, he’s reshaping retail with cutting-edge features, all while sharing his love for Takis, French cinema, and a perfectly paired wine and cheese!

1. What is your role?

As Director of Product, I coordinate the design and development of new features for our VISION product, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and delivering value to our customers.

2. What are some highlights from your professional background?

At Uber, I was part of the original team that launched the company’s first micro-mobility service, introducing bike-share and scooter options to expand urban transportation. At Lyft, I developed the playbook for the company’s inaugural meal delivery program, which facilitated 78,000 deliveries and over 1.18 million meals during the summer of 2020. This program provided alternative revenue streams for drivers amid the pandemic.

3. Why was Standard AI a match for you?

I was drawn to Standard AI because of its combination of incredibly talented people and groundbreaking technology. It’s inspiring to work alongside such a skilled team, building innovative solutions that are reshaping the future of retail.

4. What are some of the hats you wear (known or unknown)?

Beyond my core responsibilities, I often find myself wearing a variety of hats—whether it’s diving into data labeling tasks, exploring our data to uncover key insights, or serving as the team’s resident wine and cheese connoisseur, adding my French touch.

5. What excites you about working with AI and retail/CPG?

AI has always been a passion of mine, and it’s exciting to see the recent surge of interest validating its potential. I believe there’s still immense untapped opportunity in physical retail spaces, and AI offers a powerful way to bridge the gap between the physical and digital shopping experiences.

6. What’s your favorite snack to grab at the grocery store?

I cannot resist a pack of Takis. Spicy, crunchy, and impossible to stop eating!

7. Where do you see the future of Standard AI?

I envision Standard AI becoming the go-to solution for understanding shopper behavior—from the moment they enter the store to their final purchase decision (or lack thereof). We’ll be the essential partner for launching new products, optimizing store layouts, and fine-tuning promotions, setting the standard for retail intelligence.

8. If you could choose anyone as your mentor, who would you pick and why?

Cédric Villani (French Mathematician and Politician):

Cédric Villani’s contributions to mathematics and his efforts to promote AI and ethical tech policy in France are truly inspiring. I’d love to learn from his multidisciplinary approach to innovation and problem-solving.

9. What’s the weirdest job or most unique job you’ve ever had?

I once worked at my college call center, soliciting donations from alumni. It led to some of the wildest and most unexpected conversations with total strangers.

10. If you could learn anything new, what would it be?

I love learning languages, and Japanese is next on my list.

11. What is the first concert you attended?

Kavinsky, back during my electro house period.

12. If you have 30-minutes (or longer) of free time, how do you pass the time?

I turn on my VPN and catch up on French movies that are not available here!
