Compass Group Scores with New Autonomous Market at a Major Pharmaceutical Company

by Frank Beard on

Getting snacks and beverages just got a lot easier for employees of one of the world's largest pharmaceutical corporations.

Announced today, the Standard AI team has launched our latest autonomous store in collaboration with Compass Group and FLIK Hospitality Group. Customers can easily “check in” using Compass Digital Labs’ Thrive mobile app, which is already used by employees to order their favorite meals, snacks, and drinks at other stores within the pharmaceutical company’s headquarters.

Autonomous retail is a natural fit in the corporate office environment. Time is at a premium, and customers have better things to do than wait in line. This new way of shopping not only eliminates friction, but it sets a new standard for convenience. Autonomous stores are as quick and convenient as a personal pantry.

Eliminating lines also makes the retail environment more attractive to those who might otherwise be dissuaded from shopping. One of the challenges of corporate micro markets is that demand can quickly overwhelm staff. A single employee may be capable of managing the store, but that same person might struggle to process transactions during busy moments like the lunch hour or morning rush. Autonomous retail scales to quickly process transactions regardless of demand—providing necessary relief to staff while ensuring that stores appear convenient and welcoming to all potential customers.

Compass Group is a true innovator in autonomous retail, having deployed the world’s first completely cashierless, retrofitted autonomous experience in 2020 at the University of Houston. Standard AI’s computer vision-only platform makes retrofitting easy in a matter of weeks.

Stay tuned for more developments as the Standard AI team continues to revolutionize retail with our partners at Compass Group.
